Chicken Teriyaki - A Fast Food Substitute
A good alternative for fast food when on the go is Chicken Teryaki.
In my experiences, over the years I’ve found teriyaki places to be the most convenient when trying to maintain a clean diet.
Since there are so many of them pretty much on every corner, I narrowed down which ones around me carry white meat chicken breast and brown rice, and would use them every time I need a fast meal when I am at work or on the go.
The standard of dieting is chicken/rice/veggies so it makes teriyaki places extremely convenient.
When ordering you make sure you ask for white meat instead of dark meat, brown rice instead of white, and absolutely no sauce.
I always ask for hot sauce on the side, or if the restaurant has the hot sauce bottles, knock yourself out and use as much of that as possible to give the chicken flavor without adding unnecessary calories.
Usually, they grill the meat so it’s made with limited sauces or oils.
The brown/wild rice is usually steamed so it’s plain and perfect for a complex carbohydrate source.
The third item that comes with a regular teryaki meal is veggies, order plain veggies with it so that you don’t any extra sugar to spike up your insulin level and mess up the whole process of having complex carbs instead of simple.
On a regular given week, I eat teriyaki 3-4 times which makes it an every-other-day habit for me so this rule has made it convenient for me to get my proper macro’s in my diet for that specific meal if I don’t have time to cook or am in a hurry
